The Jive Bombers have been entertaining Sydney since 1985 and have built a
reputation as Sydney's number one retro dance band. With a repetoire covering
fifty years of popular music, this band is not just a covers band. In 2001, the
Jive Bombers were the first band in Australia to pick up an
APRA award for original jazz composition, six
weeks later they also picked up two rock 'n' roll
awards.
The band has been sought out by musicians touring with major international
acts. Some memorable jams have been with the horm players and percussionist from
Paul Simon's Graceland tour (Barney, Michael and Francis) and Lou "Blue Lou"
Marini from the Blues Brothers sat in for two hours at the Marble Bar. The band
has also backed a wide variety of austrlian artists including Doug Parkinson, Glen
Shorrick, Maria Venuti and Ignatious Jones.
Emphasis on quality dance music that appeals to a broad age group has kept the
band in continual demand over the years. The band has recently received national
radio exposure with the release of our new CD Swing That
Cat. Our repertoire is drawn from several decades and styles of popular music.
